Rani Merryman     For Maryland House of Delegates, District 8
Mission
Rani Merryman on Facebook

We, as the citizens of Maryland, whether we hold a seat as a delegate or live among the citizens in our community, we are responsible for creating the neighborhood we want to live in.  Through civic activism, unity and communication, we can improve the condition of our communities, affect positive change in our schools and be advocates for the voice of the autonomy of the State of Maryland.
As one of your three delegates from Baltimore County District 8, it is my promise to the citizens to initiate bills that reduce taxes for citizens and small business owners while promoting "buy local" initiatives, fund ingenuity for fiscally responsible legislation, reform education to work smarter without incurring additional education funding burdens and restore the inalienable rights that have been eroded throughout the past legislative sessions.

The hard working citizens of Maryland deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labors.  The economy continues to be a concern for our future generations.  We must now take strides to reduce the unsustainable deficits created by the previous legislators moving our Free State into the next era of sustainable and responsible spending.  It is our duty to elect those who promise to be guardians of our future and enable future generations to thrive unrestricted by debt that was not theirs to inherit.

Maryland has the fourth highest taxes of all states, surpassed only by New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.  It is time for the great citizens of our state to choose legislators who will take bold action in seeking a reduction of taxes while continuing to be uncompromising in their search for wise answers in creating solutions to our challenges.  I promise to help provide for the citizens an easier method for understanding and following the movements of their legislators, so that the citizen's voice can be the resounding voice heard on State House stairs.  It is my intention to provide open and clear avenues of transparency to make that voice heard.

While these tasks sound difficult in these times, there is an urgency to right the listing ship now while we can still bail out the boat.  We have not yet gone too far to surmount the growing burdens.  Let our voice choose the path of the true Free State that Maryland was founded on.  I will not waiver in the conviction to create a better community for all citizens.

I have signed a pledge with the 10th Amendment Center which includes 10 Affirmations on Government and the Sovereignty of the people of the State of Maryland as well as 10 promises I will keep while in office.  You are welcome to view that pledge by clicking here.
