What happened to doing the right thing, just because it is the right thing to do?
There was an article this morning in the Sun that was quoting some legislative leadership on both State and Local levels. You can read the article here. What is it that they have missed in this article? What has not been said is that elected officials are afraid it may be a tough year for their party and that is the reason for moving to a more fiscally responsible position legislatively.
I am concerned that there is an idea out there that we should work out harder if the trainer is standing there actually watching us do our sit-ups. As soon as he turns his back we go back to the lack luster performance that maintains our beer gut instead of our 6-pack abs.
This kind of ideology is detrimental to our communities. Electing citizens who have a fiscal understanding of the long term effects of over spending will create a strong economy, private sector jobs with sustainability and a well maintained infrastructure. This is the sustainable future I see for our state. Responsible spending is our duty, regardless of whether dad is actually looking at the credit card bill or not.
Maryland Test Standards Fall Below the National Average
Recently there have been several pieces put out reflecting the failure of Maryland to improve it's test scores when compared to national averages. Many residents I have spoken with have voiced concern with the impact of laws such as "No Child Left Behind" and the "AIM Initiative" saying that they have been counterproductive for many states including Maryland. We owe it to our children to find the right resources to provide quality education to every student in the state of Maryland Ranking 21st in our nation is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Spending needs to be re- focused from adding administrators and bureaucracy to upgrading classrooms with well trained teachers who have proper monetary incentives and advanced educational tools to prepare our children for today's needs.

The Speed Camera legislation that recently passed in the State house is set to be passed into law by Baltimore County Council on September 8th. While many citizens were aware this legislation was passed, I continue to hear constituents in a state of confusion as to what it means for them as a Marylander.
While Federal legislation often overshadows state legislation, I believe this is something we should all take a hard look at. You are welcome to visit my Blog and read the full article, but there are many reasons you will want to find yourself at the Circuit Court on September 8th.
Tenth Amendment and Bill of Rights Rally in Annapolis
August 20, 2009.
We had a great time at the rally and it was good to see about 1000 patriots assembled to show support for the Constitution. It is important for the people to take a stand for what they believe in. Liberty is a precious gift, given to us through many generations of patriotism. I feel it is my duty to protect our freedoms like so many have before. WE THE PEOPLE!

The Northeast Baltimore County Chicken Dinner
Rani attended the Annual Chicken Dinner with many local conservatives. It was a great night. Governor Ehrlich was the featured speaker and laid out the plans for a conservative Maryland. I wish everyone could have been there. You can read more about the evening here.
